Alfred “Gene” Swearingen, 89 of Childress, Tx, passed away on September 15, 2018. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Worship Center in Childress, Tx with burial following in the Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Childress, Tx. Alfred was born on September 26, 1928 in Seminole, Ok to Ira and Clara (Andrews) Swearingen. He was a hunter and fisherman but he especially loved deer hunting. Alfred loved sitting on the front porch with Joyce watching the hummingbirds. He loved the Lord and he attended the First Assembly of God church for many years. He and Joyce have been members of the Trinity Fellowship Worship Center since 2011. Alfred served our country in the United States Air Force. Alfred is proceeded in death by 2 sons, Alfred Eugene Swearingen Jr. and Gary Richard Swearingen, 1 daughter, Mary Kilgo, wife, Mary Swearingen, 3 sisters, Edith Potts, Pauline Adams and Charlene Chapman and 3 brothers, Jack Swearingen, Haskell Swearingen and J.D. Swearingen. He is survived by his wife Joyce Swearingen of Childress, Tx, 2 daughters, Dewanda Votaw and husband James Thomas of Childress, Tx and Sharon Daniels of Vacaville, Ca, 1 Sister, Clara Flatt of Antlers, Ok, numerous grand and great grand children as well as numerous nephews and nieces and a special friend Linda Garrett.
