Obituary for Alda Garrison

Alda Beth Garrison, age 94, of Waco, TX, formerly of Childress, TX passed away to be with her Lord and Savior. Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm, Monday, April 4, 2016 at Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel in Childress Cemetery with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Childress Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, April 3, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Alda Beth was born on June 15, 1921 in Fort Worth, TX to Captain Houston Craig and Alda Mills Craig, and as life would have it, she took her final breath on March 30, 2016 in Fort Worth, TX. Alda Beth lived a long and wonderful life and now she will live forever. “Go” was Alda Beth’s middle name because anytime anyone said “Let’s go”, she was ready. Alda Beth had a servant’s heart and invested her love and time in her church and community. Alda Beth served as a Deputy Sheriff of Tarrant County. She was President and held other officer positions of the Union Flat Extension Club. She was a Member and Treasurer of The Rothwell Circle of United Methodist Women, as well as a member of Joyful Quilters and Hughes Class of First United Methodist Church of Childress. Alda Beth was also heavily involved with 4-H, in which she received many awards and recognitions including Childress County and Rolling Plains District 3 “Outstanding 4-H Leader” and Volunteer 4-H Leaders of Texas “Outstanding 4-H Leader”. She was also one of the quilters of the official Texas 4-H Centennial Quilt that now hangs in the State 4-H office at College Station, TX. Over her lifetime, Alda Beth made 21 wedding dresses and numerous bridesmaid dresses.
